We are on our way to an appointment -- well, okay, we really haven't left yet, as you may have figured out. As long as we're typing, we're not moving forward. Really. Honestly. We never drive while doing something else.
Before we go off to our meeting with a smart, attractive, worldly woman at the Rochester Business Journal, and then, follow that meeting with a young woman who is not only smart and attractive, but has a so-beautiful smile, Jane wanted to write SOMETHING -- just so you, dear reader, wouldn't think we'd forgotten you.
Our post today is about Blogher. That women's only blogging conference, at which a few brave men showed up. In fact, we'd like to talk about that. About brave men. About men who don't look at Jane as if she's dizty (even when she is), but men who want to understand Jane, to reach out to Jane, to give Jane her due.
We are meeting more and more men like that. The men who attended the blogging conference in San Jose last Saturday, are just those kind of men. They are men who recognize the women's market as a strong one. They know that women are not out to build a world full of lace and mascara. They know that even strong, opinionated women, really like men. We all have brothers, or fathers, or uncles, or partners...who are men. And they are important to us.
One such man is our friend Matt Homann, of the [non]billable hour. We think so highly of Matt, it tickled us green and orange (we are so tired of pink!) to see him at Blogher. And, a visit to Matt's blog is well worth the visit -- his notes on what he perceived and what he took away, are marvelous. Jane can't wait to add her voice to the echo all over the blogosphere -- that word of mouth marketing all about the success of this one-of-a-kind conference.
Until we are able to do that, we urge you to visit the link above and read Matt Homann's notes. One important thing we took away from the conference, was this comment from the gentleman Matt himself, offered at day's end, in tribute to all those who attended:
"I offer a personal challenge to everyone here. After you leave Blogher, I challenge you to CALL or WRITE someone you made a connection with. Get personal. If you admire this person, show it by calling or writing. Don't email -- don't use a trackback -- don't let technology do your work for you. CALL or WRITE, a personal note, to some you admire."
Jane plans to take Matt's advice -- just as soon as we're done playing catch-up. Lots of exciting things happening here -- so, stay tuned. Tomorrow is Smart Man Online day. We have a surprise for you. See you right here!
What's not to like about that?
