CMO magazine. That's Chief Marketing Officer magazine, not Chief Medical Officer magazine, to anyone who might confuse the two. Chief Medical Officer magazine doesn't exist. At least at Google.
We were reading the August issue of said publication and came across this interesting article titled, "Apple and Eve." We were immediately drawn in by this introduction:
"The question of what a woman wants has been mystifying a lot of people for a long time now. Apparently, marketers now have an answer: She wants her own special snacks and drinks, specially prepared to meet her nutritional needs."
A callout box states, "The market for women's food and beverages will reach $7.7 billion [yes, that's Billion] by 2009, giving even established brands a chance to reinvigorate and reinvent themselves."
There is a powerful opportunity here. The women's market is not just hats, shoes, haircolor, and healthcare [think ovtc pain medication and band aids]. Jane thinks this article, disguised as an editorial, is very revealing. There is no baby boomer, Gen X, or echo boomer message. The message is aimed at women -- a niche market in and of itself -- but more importantly, a huge market that encompasses Moms, Grandmoms, teens, and even tweens.
These are females who are interested in good tasting, low-fat, high-energy snacks. Do you sell a product like this? If not, do you know someone who does?
We're not going to describe the numerous possibilities for you, dear reader. Be creative. Loose yourself in the message -- talk to the female in your life, be she your Mom, your sister, your daughter, or your neighbor. ASK her if you should find a way to utilize this fabulous chance to get women to like you.
When, as the article states, "77 percent of women have all grocery shopping responsibility for their households" it stands to reason that partnering with a company that provides this kind of food, or just showing an interest in nutritional snacks, is sure to gain you brownie points [pun intended].
Eve couldn't have asked for more. She started it all, with the apple. Don't you think?
What's not to like about that?
