One of the best, the very best, things about blogging, is meeting new people. We don't mean 'meeting' new people in the traditional sense -- we mean connecting with new people, and THEN, actually meeting them in person. To discover that -- they are just like their blogs! Funny, down-to-earth, SMART, and warm.
This marvelous occurence happened to Jane last year. When an esteemed blog friend, Matt Homann (of the blog the[non]billable hour, which you've heard Jane rave about again and again) called us at home and invited us -- yes, little ole us! -- to an invitation only event in Chicago, which Matt and his good friend (now our good friend, also) Dennis Kennedy were planning, which they creatively named LexThink!
Whew! That sentence would never get by Jane's fourth grade teacher!
But, to get back to the issue at hand -- Matt and Dennis are two sharp fellows who are also quite personable. Both are much younger than one expects -- they have such excellent blogs one might be tempted to think they are wise sages from those old Dick and Jane years of the mid-twentieth century. No. They are merely talented and refreshing young'uns with stories to tell.
Last year, at LexThink!, Jane felt a bit outclassed -- purely our fault, not theirs. We are not used to being among the ultra-elite, and, when we discovered Matt and Dennis and Ernie the Attorney and all the others at LexThing! were just average, good, old folk like us -- we realized the privilege of having been invited to their premier event. Jane learned so much that weekend. We rubbed shoulders with innovative thinkers and broke bread with some outstanding bloggers. When we came home, we were eager for the next big event by the LexThing! crew.
Alas! That next event is nigh upon us -- BlawgThink is in production as we speak. But -- [pause to lament] -- Jane will not be there. Jane will be on the road -- but our heart will be with Matt and Dennis, and all the others who attend this breakthrough gathering of amazing professionals. In fact, we've been given permission to talk about it [hence this post] and to encourage readers to contact Matt if you might be interested in attending.
Matt and Dennis are welcoming big thinkers. Thinkers who blog -- or not. Thinkers who are associated with the legal profession -- or not. Thinkers who -- well, think. From the outline of the event showing at Matt's blog, it looks like everyone will be bringing their thinking caps. We know you, dear readers, are all big thinkers, of one sort or another. We know you are eager to learn ways to improve your blogs, your websites, marketing [to women online?], and to get inside some of the best legal minds in the blogosphere, and converse with designers, marketers, and more.
You can do so at BlawgThink. In Chicago. November 11-12th. Contact Matt Homann . Tell him Jane sent you.
From someone who knows, there is nothing not to like about that!
