I LOVE the Jungle Book!
I'm a sucker for good Disney films. That's why I jumped on it when I was offered the DVD of The Jungle Book, the 40th Anniversay edition which was released yesterday.
I received my DVD in the mail last week...and yes, I promised to write about it. So, I'm writing.
Look...I have a nine year old granddaughter. She is too busy, just like all kids her age these days. I'm keeping this outstanding Disney release on hand to watch with her, on that rare occasion when she visits - when she isn't all booked up with 'other' stuff, if you know what I mean. This is a fun film...it's got all the best ingredients: a fun story about a kid who lives with wild animals, talking bears and snakes and such - and music you can dance to. Thank you, Dick Clark and American Bandstand.
No doubt Miah has seen this movie before. I've seen it a dozen times, I think. I know I watched it with my kids when they were little. But, watching it now, as a new release, sort of, with my Miah, is more exciting than ever. We laugh, we giggle, we make fun of Baloo and we shrink from Kaa's hypnotic gaze, and we actually get up and dance sometimes.
The release has a lot of other content - beyond the movie and the story. I have not had a chance to do the games and activities, yet. But, Miah and I will. In fact, my brother is moving to the area and he has two little kids... so this DVD will get LOTS of attention at our house when they visit, too.
To all those Grandmas and Grandpas out there, I say...get this in your DVD library. Get it now and you can enter the DVD Godlen Adventure Sweepstakes... and win a vacation to Costa Rica! (you can enter online, too...at the link here.)
Disney says you should "Jump into Jazzy Jungle Fun" and I agree. Jump, now!

That is so funny! It sounds like something my son would say! Go get it... it will make you feel better and, eventually, he'll sneak in to watch it, too.

I asked my 18-year-old son at supper last night if he'd like me to get him this DVD. He looked at me like I just suggested I shave my head. "But you loved it when you were a kid!" I said. "Remember when we used to watch it like, four times a day, and remember the time you were in the hospital and it was the only thing that made you feel better?"
"No."
OK, so I'm getting the thing for myself. It will make ME feel better. Thanks for recommending it.
