It's a bitter cold day and I am actually glad I can sit here at the computer, all comfy and cozy, and blog away. I'm kind of listening to the TV, too. We ladies like to multi-task, in case you didn't know.
A few days ago I got an email about a new site that seems kind of intriguing. Here's what they said in their pitch, "MyRegistry.com is different from ALL other registries, because users can select products from ANY store in the world, and are not limited to one store. Imagine this…you sign up at MyRegistry.com for free and you compile a list of gifts that you would love to get for your special occasion."
So, I went to the site and I admit, I'm mildly impressed. I've always wished there was a place I could go to register for any occasion...and now there is. But, there's more (do I sound like an infomercial?) They have a place to compare prices, right on the homepage, above the fold. The site is nicely formatted with great navigation and a lot of visual clues to finding what you want. My only negative comment would be that it's so grey. I can understand why - it doesn't purport to be a 'store'...it's more of a portal. So, everything is all one color. Well, not everything. There is a little color to it. But, not enough. It lacks that inviting quality you get from sites like Overstock.
Still, I think I'm going to try it out. In fact, I'm going to make myself a Hendrick's Gin and Tonic, and go shopping. (you HAVE tried Hendrick's, right? OMG! I'm not even a Gin drinker but this is soooo good, I've started looking forward to just a small glass before bed...no, really, just a small glass. And, I love, love, love the website... hey, they have cocktail recipes! Get thee to it and see for yourself - then go shopping!)
And, that's what women do on their day off, when it's too cold to go outdoors.
