Spend a Dollar - Save a Life: Alanna Nelson Needs Your Help
I know you likely do not know who Alanna Nelson is. To be honest, neither do I. But, I do know Sybil Stershic of Quality Service Marketing. She's a client and a new author from WME Books. But, this isn't about her or her book. It's about a friend of hers, Alanna Nelson. Sybil wrote and asked for my help and how could I resist?
In the truest sense of the term social networking, doing what women do best in the social netosphere...connect, connect, connect - to honor the environment, to honor life and happiness, once again I ask for your help. It's not for me. It's never for me. And while it's for Alanna, someone you just met via this blog post, it's also for all women. This is beyond asking for business advice, or business support. This request is to help save a life - because even though the disease Alanna has is terminal, your help could benefit her in so many ways. And, your donation, however small, will go towards helping all the other women with this dreadful disease. By participating, you aid the foundation created for her disease, giving it much needed funds to increase research and thereby discover a cure. You might be the tipping point. If you act today...
Here's some of the story :"in Alanna's own words" and a link below to the rest of the story:
"Recently my three-year-old daughter, said to me, "Mommy, when I grow up I want to be a doctor to make you better." I cried an entire day, but after crying, I decided to act. I am a happily married woman who has been recently diagnosed with a rare terminal lung disease that affects only women. The disease is called Lymphangioleiomyomatosis, or LAM for short. It is a genetic lung disease, which destroys healthy lung tissue by causing bubble-like cysts that cannot transfer oxygen to the blood. This means that people with LAM will eventually need full-time oxygen, and finally must resort to lung transplantation to stay alive. There is currently NO CURE and LAM is ultimately fatal.
Alanna tells us there are 1500 confirmed cases of this terrible disease, but likely over 250,000 women undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. To be proactive - as we all would be in the same situation, Alanna has organized a family-friendly fundraiser - Bid and Bake for a Breath, in Elkins Park, PA. If you live nearby, please attend. The cost is so small...only $5 at the door for singles, and $10 for families. See more information on the Bid and Bake for a Breath at Sybil's blog.
For all those NOT in the area, those unable to attend the fundraiser, know that your gift of $1 or $2 given over the social netosphere, multiplied by millions, can make a difference. Will you forego your daily latte for one week, to help Alanna out? Will you not rent a movie this weekend and send a donation to LAM, instead? Will you send a message to Alanna's little girl - that you care -- about life, and little kids, and Moms, and good health? And then, will you share this story and keep the momentum moving?
Thank you.

Yvonne, thank you for helping me share Alanna's story and bring attention to all the families affected by LAM. I love your message of "Spend a Dollar-Save a Life" ... it takes so little to help so much!
