Generations: Some Thoughts

Knee deep in an audit - wish me luck!

So, while I deal with numbers, I thought I'd share a poem my daughter shared with me...many years ago. She was in high school and brought this poem home one day and it really struck me ... to me, it reflects the mindset of the youth of the latter century -- kids in their mid to late teens, who are now adults. I wonder if it speaks to today's teens, and what the previous generation (now Gen X and Gen Y) think of it today:

GENERATIONS

Mom, can we trade?
Your Beatles (Britney?? Miley??)
For my Guns n' Roses (the Jason Bros?)
Your Volkswagon bus (station wagon)
For my 4X4 Blazer, (prius)
Your maijuana (no change there)
For my crack (ecstasy?)
Your pregnancy
For my aids,
Your mother and father
For my Father, his new wife & my 1/2 sister,
Your generation
In exchange...for mine.

What do you say, Mom?
Can we trade?

I didn't think so.
