What better way to celebrate International Women's Day, which is on March 8th this year, than to pass along a marvelous note from another woman?
I've been receiving Nancy D. Solomon's newsletter for more than a year and every issue is a day brightener. As she says on her website, she is "Turning what if...into what is." How powerful is that? I see she also has a blog - The Solomon Factor - which I hope she begins updating, soon.
With Nancy's permission, here is what I think is the best tribute to International Women's Day - testimonial to US - the gals who make it all happen:
Dear Yvonne [she writes]:
No matter what your childhood was like...
No matter what has happened to you...
No matter how many extra pounds you may carry...
No matter what education you never received...
No matter how unworthy you may think you are...
No matter how many gray hairs you may count...
No matter how many times your heart has been broken...
No matter how often you've felt invisible...
YOU ARE...
A woman who is powerful...
A woman who is vibrant...
A woman who is trustworthy...
A woman who is beautiful...
A woman who deserves tenderness and love...
A woman whose voice is worthy of being heard...
A woman who is invincible...
This Sunday, March 8th, is International Women's Day... The other 364 days are yours too!
Be seen
Be heard
Be celebrated
Be Yourself
I CELEBRATE YOUR LIFE AND THE IMPACT YOU HAVE HAD ON MINE... Love, Nancy

To Nancy I say thank you for this moving tribute. To you, dear readers, I say thank you for being there for me. Be all that you are today, and every day.
As Harriet Beecher Stowe once said, "Women are the true architects of society." Together we can build a stronger, better, more people-centered tomorrow. Because isn't that what life is all about: the people in our lives?
Happy International Women's Day.

Thanks for this post. I hope everyone can understand how powerfull women are.

@Barbara - would that we convince just 5 women, today, of their value. Your help is much appreciated.
@Carole - yes, it's always the "who" we are and not the "what" we are. Thanks for adding value to this conversation.

Great post, Yvonne! It reminds us it's not what's on the outside, it's what's on the inside that counts!

>> A woman who is invincible...
These, more than anything else, are words by which to live. Our own beliefs in ourselves is what gives us wings to succeed beyond our wildest dreams.
