Search Made Easy for You and Me
August 07, 2006
It had to happen. The blogosphere is so powerful, this new blog I discovered recently is just what the Grandmother (that would be me) ordered. Forget Amazon or Shop.com. Hop on over to Become.com and go away happy.
I've never found Amazon that easy to search. Yes, it's good with books - and book recommendations. But, when I want something special - something for a special friend or relative, Amazon is definitely not my first place to stop.
Just today I clicked into Become.com and came away impressed - and happy. I ordered a gift I'm not sure I could have found elsewhere (not without a lot of wasted time), and then I went back to see what I could find for the beautiful, delightful, cuddly Miah - the love of my life, these days. I was totally impressed with the contents they returned on my basic search of the word 'granddaughter.' It wasn't the usual toys or Barbie 'stuff'. This site gave me a list of original ideas. Better than that - it let me "zoom" in on each item to learn more, before visiting the originating site.
This kind of content is what women like. If you learn nothing else here at Lip-sticking, learn that ...offering us vertical search capability with true originality in the search results, and we're happy. Once we're happy - chances are, we'll gush about you to our network.
Here's another thought: is your site listed in Become.com? Check it out. As mentioned in a recent post previously - tis the season. Women are hitting the Internet and catalogs - places you should have a strong presence, if you want to market to us.
Tomorrow...the MEN of Blogher!
I had never heard of this site before. I just took a look and it might be an alternative to search engines and Amazon. I will be telling my wife about it to see if it passes muster. Also reading about the founders of the site was interesting as well. They seem to have the right stuff to make the site successful. I'm also a newbie to your site. It looks very interesting.

Very interesting site, Yvonne! Thanks for the heads up! In this day and age of fast-advancing technology and stiff competition, e-businesses will benefit a lot by being innovative.
