Short and sweet. Here's an announcement about a new site - a NEWS site for grown ups, so the email said many moons ago, when it arrived in my email box.
I should have deleted it. I didn't recognize the sender at first - which usually means spam or baa-aad new. Then, I saw it was from Elizabeth. Elizabeth sends me interesting things from time to time. I had hoped to interview the founder of this new news site, but...time got away from me. He's available for questions, if you like. The site is in beta - and they're looking for testers, so their site says. I'm still curious about it, and haven't made up my mind on its usefulness. I kind of like this page. (see image)
Here are some details on the site:
It's a "news neighborhood" kind of website. The idea is to allow users to share news stories with like-minded friends. Sort of social networking with the news!
So, I asked what 3 things the founders of Newgie would like my readers to know, and this was the answer:
- Intelligently designed to make the gathering and viewing of news more user friendly.
- Makes news community features that have historically only been available to the techie crowd available to the masses.
- Designed to not only keep you well informed, but to facilitate thought and discussion on the hot topics in the news.
You really have to click in and visit the site. No far just taking my word for it. I think it bears exploring. In fact, I had a similar idea a few years back, but never acted on it. Dang! The pop-up boxes are a bit distracting, but maybe I'm just not used to them.
