Outlook on 2007: Paul Chaney
April 15, 2007
Paul Chaney is a blogger from way back. He's one of the first bloggers I met online - and his friendship means a lot to me, even though we haven't had much of a chance to chat, lately. Paul is one busy guy as VP of Marketing for Blogging Systems Group. And, as evidenced by his answer to my Outlook on 2007 questions. Check it out...
Yvonne: What happened at your company, in 2006, that surprised you?
Paul: I had quite a few "surprises" in 06, not all of which happened at my company. But, relative to your question, I think the chief surprise was how quickly Blogging Systems Group gained traction in the real estate industry. Although we're a young company, only about a year old, you'd think we've been around a lot longer than that. But, we were the first company to target the industry with blog services. It's a matter of timing I suppose, or being in the right place at the right time.
That's not to say things haven't been tough. Many Realtors have yet to grasp Web 2.0 concepts and are just now beginning to embrace the notion that blogs can be used as a marketing tool.
Yvonne: What are you planning to do differently in 2007?
Paul: We're continuing to upgrade our product line-up. Now that we've gotten a feel for what works and what doesn't, we're in the process of making the necessary changes to better penetrate the market. We're also looking into branching off into other verticals related to real estate. It's a natural progression, and one that I feel will resonate well in the year to come.
I can vouch for Paul's vision and sense of direction in the real estate business. I have not done work with him, but we have recently talked about some opportunities in one of these "verticals" he referred to.
