Gloria Steinem and more

Thanks to another blogger - Elana Centor of Blogher and Wasabi Publicity - I learned last week about the Gloria Awards. To whit:

"The Gloria Awards honor women across the Ms_foundation_gloria_awards_logocountry whose commitment and achievements in the areas of social justice, reproductive freedom, and women’s leadership move our society closer to the inclusive and equitable democracy that the Ms. Foundation seeks to create through its grant making initiatives and public education programs."

This is the 19th annual celebration of these awards. Winners receive a medallion and a $2500 grant.

I'm not sure how this got by me for such a long time, but I'm so grateful to Elana for bringing it to my attention now. I have a note in to the award winners, and hope to have comments from them later this week.

As I've mentioned in this blog before, I am a big fan of Gloria Steinem. Her bio and accomplishments are too numerous to list in a little blog like this, but perhaps this will be of interest - she is working on a new book title, Road to the Heart: America As if Everyone Mattered. The book is about her 30 years as a feminist activist.

Watch this space for the announcement of who the winners are, and what they did to achieve this honor. It's my hope that I will have comments from them, also. These are the kinds of things that are important to note and to blog about. For me, for you, for all of us. Read about the honorees and share the link love.
