The Break Up: Marketing to Women with video
June 22, 2007
Thanks to my good friend, Holly, over at the marketing to women online blog, this video aptly titled, Bring the Love Back, came to my attention and I had to share.
Do you see yourself in this scenario? Are you really marketing to women effectively? The video is humorous, of course - humor is a win-win factor in all marketing. But, it really hits close to home. Don't be fooled by the young lady in it - she easily represents most of us, albeit, we baby boomers would not be so casual.
Take note: women are speaking out - to each other, to friends and relatives, to shop owners, media moguls, and more. We don't NEED YOU... YOU need us. I hope you do NOT see yourself in this video, but if you do - let me know how you plan on 'fixing' your approach to the biggest, most powerful market on the planet: WOMEN who shop online.
What a terrific blog and related video. I'm also passing this on and am going to blog about this on my Seattle PI site. I teach PR and marketing classes at the University of Washington and always coach my students (male and female) on the importance of making real, emotional connections to customers, not just selling to them. I've also launched a new TV Talk show on the internet that is all about this: connecting to women and giving them a voice through a new form of media. We really listen to our women viewers and let them help co-produce the show as "virtual producers.” If you're interested in checking it out, the site is www.WhitneyandWyatt.com. Maybe we can interview you at some point, Yvonne! Again, thanks for a great article. –Whitney Keyes

Awesome video! So simple, talk WITH me, not TO me. That's what I want. And know ME, not my demographic. Get specific into MY needs. Heck, I'm starting to sound like the advertiser, but really, if I'm about to buy something, it is all about me.
Thanks for sharing!

Yvonne, this video is so terrific I've already passed it on to tons of business colleagues and friends. As I've thought more about it, I've decided it's a valid message for marketing to men, too, in this day and age...women moreso, perhaps, but men are growing skeptical of the traditional advertising channels as well. Thanks for putting this video up so we could find it!
