I Snip, You Snip, We All Snip at eSnips

Billed as "Facebook Meets eHarmony" a new, unique and creative social networking site launched today... eSnips Social DNA.

Esnips I had the privilege of a sneak preview over a week ago and I think this new site has legs... and arms, and feet and eyes and ears...it's a veritable plaza of great connections. Here's how the press release reads:

Social DNA is an interesting and fun way to discover people like you based on hundreds of common 'digital genes'.

Through a series of quizzes, all of which only take a minute or less to do, people are given both open-ended and multiple choice questions in various aspects of life, i.e., a hobby or interest, opinion about politics, sports, the Bush Administration, the environment, etc. Instantly, you start seeing people who match you by percentage to the right of your answers.

Social networks like FaceBook and MySpace are extremely limited because they only bridge people together by tags or phrases and often to people you already you know, i.e., your friends. Facebook also tends to center around linking to people you already know and because of the myriad of third party apps, the experience is much more fragmented for users.

And, unlike sites like Tickle, it's part of someone’s social life on eSnips and not a standalone service, which makes it extremely powerful. This allows people to tap into the power of an extremely large existing network which already has dozens of communities around a number of interests and passions.

It becomes really fascinating when thousands of users answer tens and hundreds of quizzes and lists and get matched.  It is then that people can discover others who love pilates as much as they do lasagna, think the same way about K-12 education or believe that Hilary Clinton should be the next president of the United States.

With eSnips Social DNA, not only can you compare to your friends across hundreds of attributes but meet new people you didn’t previously know who also match you in a significant way. The result is a much stronger social experience and connection between people.

They also have a blog...which is tres kewl! I'm really in love with the character of esnips. He (or she?) is very inviting and gave me a sense of welcomeness when I first logged in. At the blog, esnipper's den, they've done some creative things with little snipper - my name for him, not theirs. I have no idea what they call him.

I'm still playing around in this new site - but I see a lot to like. I see places to connect with like-minded people on specific topics...without having to create a "group"...which is how Facebook does it.

I see a place for pets - which fits in well with my petblog, and I see a lot of opportunity to create connections with people on a more personal level for books, a passion I have, and for other topics.

So far most of my social networking has been business focused, but I like this new site because now I can meet people who are talking the talk and walking the walk, around things I like outside of business. Stop over and see what you think. Join me in the what women want area...

See you there!
