Some regular readers of this blog may be wondering where the author has disappeared to...
Well, I've been trying to make sense of life and love and the comings and goings of people and pets.
I am one of the luckiest people on earth to have such outstanding friends like Lena and Mary, who were more than eager to help out in a crisis. Without going into too much detail, I will tell you that there was a tragic -- very tragic -- death in the family. And, at the same time, far, far away in CO, no less hurtful, my daughter's beloved dog had to be put to sleep, unexpectedly.
The family death is something that will take time to recover from. There are family members who will carry this shadow with them for many Christmases to come.
The putting down of my daughter's dog (seen here in better times) is a tearful thing, but it was done for the dog's sake... and I expect they will get a puppy in the spring.
All of this has made this holiday a troubled one. We are gathered together as a family, remembering fond days of yore, while doing our best to pay tribute...and to help the children keep their happy Christmas hope, alive.
To all of my readers, and those who happen upon this blog by chance, I say, Hold your loved ones close. Enjoy each day with delight - and let bygones be bygones. Remember that YOU are in charge of your life... make each day a memory to savor. Take a moment to call that friend or family member you haven't spoken to in weeks, or months. CALL YOUR MOTHER! And, give an extra dollar to your favorite charity.
