Ten Secret Things I'm Thankful For

Eyes on the world Today is Thanksgiving. I hope everyone is offline visiting with family and enjoying a table laden with good food. That's where I am, right now. In fact, we needed to rent an American Legion Hall for our Thanksgiving dinner. Sixty family members in attendance, and that isn't even all of us!

For those who are online...just taking a peek at blogs or Twitter or Facebook, here are the 10 Secret Things that I'm Thankful for:

  1. I'm thankful for my slippers. Yep, they keep my feet warm and they are good enough to wear to the mall, if I forget I have them on. (yep, that's happened!)

  2. I'm thankful for social media. Even tho it's out of control (please, I cannot join anymore social networks...no, really, no more!).

  3. I'm thankful for memories. Memories good and bad. We are the accumulation of our memories - and sometimes, they are totally off-base! Memory is unreliable, but...full of wonder.

  4. I'm thankful for being here, in the now. Today is not only the 1st day of the rest of my life, it's a celebration of the best of my life.

  5. I'm thankful for laundry. I like doing laundry. Everything is nice and crisp and clean, when it's done. I even like ironing.

  6. I'm thankful for snow. Snow is manageable. Hurricanes and earthquakes are not. (sorry for the text color...I mean, snow should be white, but...I had to settle for pale blue)

  7. I'm thankful for choices. It's a privilege to live somewhere that gives me choices - on everything. (if you're marketing to women online, tho, limit the choices; we like 3-4 but don't overwhelm us!)

  8. I'm thankful for Jergens hand lotion. Best ever. And, I need it!

  9. I'm thankful for the focus on green. Let's all be greener in 2009.

  10. And, the last and best secret thing I'm thankful for is you, dear reader. You make my day, every day.

I thankful for RSS feeds. In the sea of blogs, I wouldn't even find yours without the the magic of RSS.

And yes, the doing the laundry is a humbling experience. Gives you time to ponder of a lot of things too.

I'm with you all the way, except for the laundry and ironing--yeech! I haven't seen a list like this anywhere but it is so true. The little things would be sorely missed too.

Yvonne...this is weird, like I'm talking to myself...thanks for stopping by. And for your kind words. To the snow issue...snow is fun. Blizzards can be fun. Kids love'em, anyway. Get out of school...make snow men and forts. It's a ball!

Then again...sunny Florida is very tempting! Great place for a Feb. vacation!

Hugs!

I think these are fantastic things to be thankful for and very 'different.' Who knew you could be thankful for laundry!:) I do believe that memories, although painful at times, are good to have. They can help to shape up for the person we are becoming or person we are, and at times aid us to assist others in avoiding activities that can become their own painful memories. The good ones, of course, usually make us smile. Most of these are things we can give thanks for everyday (except the snow - I live in sunny Florida and love it!):)
