WOM - Top Level Marketing Discipline

Eyes on the world Andy Sernovitz has done it again. The undisputed master of Word of Mouth Marketing has updated his best-selling book on the topic, with new, "secret," valuable content to help everyone, but especially entrepreneurs, get on the fast-track to using WOM effectively.

The very best thing about Andy is that he is never wordy. He says what needs saying and supports his ideas with real life case studies or stories, and then he even gives the reader ideas on how to utilize the idea he just wrote about. Just check out his 5 Ts of Word of Mouth Marketing Worksheet.

Case in point: the book itself as it came to me, Secret and Mysterious Order of Word of Mouth, is designed to BE a Word of Mouth campaign! On the back cover Andy says, "This is not your book." Oh yeah? Why not? "You are its trusted Caretaker." Ah, so...what do I do? "Hand this book to other worthy Souls... Write They Name on the Register of Readers"...and when all that is done (there are approximately 10-11 lines to fill in), "...forward a photo of the page to...Andy...for a Special and Astonishing Reward for each of you."Wom-gaspedal-andy-sernovitz

After this post, I'm passing my "secret advance copy" to a friend, and I expect that friend to pass it on, and on and on, until someone sends Andy a pic of the back cover - because I want my reward!

Did I mention that the book arrived with several packets of bacon salt? How kewl is that? How worthy of WOM is that?

But, I digress. The book itself is full of the kind of advice Andy gives on his blog, Damn I Wish I'd Thought of That, and in his presentations...and it's so basic, sometimes, you'll slap yourself upside the head and ask yourself...why am I not doing this right now!?!

I'm not even going to quote from the book. No need to. Andy is Andy. His book is a product of his expertise and his experience and I have not found anyone as good at WOM as he is. Oh, sure...Guy Kawasaki is good at it. And, Seth Godin does a fair job. And, next to Andy, Emanuel Rosen gets it right, but none of them match what I learn from Andy.

BTW - all of these talkers gave testimonials or offerred content in the Preface and/or Afterword. You can skip their parts. I admire them all, but you really only need to read Andy's words.

Get thee to a bookstore and buy this book and implement some of these ideas and share some of your own and make 2010 the BEST year ever!
