Iams Home 4 the Holidays is seeking homes for 1.5 million pets & donating 5 million bowls of food

By Guest Blogger, Donna DeClemente, Donna's Promo Talk

IH4THlogoThe annual Iams Home 4 the Holidays promotion is back again this year for the 12th season. It originally launched in 1999 and this year it started up again on Oct.1 and will end Jan. 4, 2011. Their goals are to find forever homes for 1.5 million pets AND provide 5 million bowls of food to shelters in need.

I wrote about the 2009 Iams Home 4 the Holidays program here last year in which  they recruited Hillary Swank as their spokesperson. The program resulted in 1.3 million pets being adopted with 3,500 partner animal organizations participating from 21 countries around the world.

Now, like me, Iams realizes that not everyone is in a position to adopt a new pet this holiday season. I already have two dogs and two cats. So they're recruiting for volunteers and have reached out to us bloggers with information to spread the word about some of the many great opportunities to help animals in need. This widget makes it that easier for people to find out how. Just for posting this widget on a this blog IAMS will donate 500 meals to shelters in need! All I need to do to qualify for the 500 meal donation is send them a link to this post so they can track it.

The widget allows a person to enter in their zip code which will show them all the different animal rescue volunteer opportunities in their area. If you'd like to put this widget on your blog or website you can get the code by visiting this link http://www.allforgood.org/home4holidays and just click on "embed" and copy and paste that code into your blog.

Since the program started on October 1st, Iams Home 4 the Holidays has helped find new loving homes for 351,688 dogs and puppies, 291,808 cats and kittens and 14,256 other animals totaling 657,752 adoptions. There is a running count on Home4theHolidays.com.

New this year, Iams is aiming to give 5 million meals to homeless animals. One way to help achieve this goal is by utilizing social media and the Iams Facebook page. Here Facebook users can follow the Adoption Angel's stories and “LIKE” photos, videos and posts. For every "Like" IAMS receives they will donate a meal to a homeless animal. To date they have 3,539,688 meal donations.

So please check it out and help spread the word if you can. It's a great cause and a great way for the brand to give back to the community this holiday season.

Caren,
When you click on the link to embed the widget there is another link at the top of that page that says "More about this gadget". Click on that and then scroll down the page. It will open a settings tool that you can then change the size of it. There's a preview bottom you can hit. However, it may still may be too wide for a sidebar depending on if you have 1 column or two column. Hope this helps.

I can't get the widget to fit properly on my side bar...it says if it is cut off to increase the width or length but I have no clue now to do that.

I tried it 3 times and had to take it off.
Can they give us different sized links?
I would like to put it on the side.
