Scribbling in the dark (while Waiting for SUPERMAN)
Planning for your 2011 writing career

Thank you, Elizabeth Edwards

It's not all pink teddy bears and "sexy cancer."

Ms. Edwards finally lost her battle with cancer this week, but she fought right up until the end - to have a life and to contribute, not simply survive.  While I've never particularly cared for her husband and, if rumors are true, she could be a real bee-atch...many of us have made bad decisions about men...and any strong woman is often attacked.

Her husband said this, after they had to abandon his last presidential bid, “She’s herself, and fearless. I don’t think she’s intimidated by or afraid of anything.”  So, yes, I just bet some on his staff thought she was mean, inconsiderate and unfair. (Isn't she supposed to be at a women's garden club meeting, somewhere?  Or, baking cookies?)

In fact, during the Kerry/Edwards campaign, I found myself thinking that their wives should have really been running.  Now that would have been a race!

My favorite memory of Ms. Edwards is when she called in to confront Ann Coulter.  If only more people would stand up to the liars and bullies, we might actually have some reasonable discourse on solving problems.

So, thank you, Ms. Edwards.  You'll be remembered long after the other woman (what is her name? ...and no no, let's not remember it), Ann Coulter and the rest are in the slimy trash heap of yesterday's sensation.
