I wanted to take a moment this week to circle back to a holiday promotion I wrote this post about last month and update you on the results. The 2010 Iams Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption campaign has now ended and it again has helped saved the lives of many animals. I want to thank the readers of Lip-sticking who read my post and helped to spread the word. With our help the campaign saved the lives of more than 1.1 million homeless animals!

MeaghanBerylliumsfirstmeetingHere's the results:

1,125,667 animals were adopted between Oct. 1 and Jan. 4 through more than 3,500 animal organizations from around the world. Forever homes were found for 593,146 dogs, 509,470 cats and 23,051 other animals.  Here's a photo on one of the dogs adopted by a woman named Meaghan. Isn't she adorable?

On top of that, Iams reportedly is donating 5,000,000 meals to all of the Iams Home 4 the Holidays participating animal organizations! This was all made possible through retail purchases and online engagement from all of those that participated. They came short of their goal of finding homes for 1.5 million animals, but did reach the 5 million meals goal they had set for this year.

As a token of appreciation, Iams has offered to send us 10 Iams Home 4 the Holidays hats for me to give to our readers. So, if you'd like a hat, please provide me with your mailing address either in a comment to this post or email me at [email protected]. If you did write about the campaign on your blog or Facebook page, send me that info as well. I know we have many pet lovers and supporters who read this blog, so thanks again for helping to make this happen.

I hope we can contribute again next year and make it an even bigger success. The 2011 program doesn't officially begin until October, but you can still get involved and make a difference all-year-round by visiting the Iams Facebook Page to learn about ways to adopt, donate or volunteer.
