Speaking at the Marketing to Digital Divas Conference

By Guest Blogger, Donna DeClemente, Donna's Promo Talk

Digital-DivasNext month I will be speaking at a conference titled Marketing to Digital Divas, How to Navigate the Channels to Engage Today's Woman. It's taking place in Toronto, what we in Rochester, NY, refer to as across the big pond, on June 8 & 9th. This will be my first time attending this conference which I was invited to speak at from an introduction made by Yvonne DiVita to Martina Christen from Open Dialogue Inc. who is organizing the event. Martina was interested in having someone speak about promotions and Yvonne pointed her to me.

Social_Sweeps_Logo_WebMy session is titled Interactive Promotions and Social Media Marketing -- A Winning Combination! I'm going to speak about what I call "Social Sweeps" promotions, those that include a sweepstakes or contests and are combined with social media. This will cover many of the examples what I write about on this blog. I'm going to review the benefits of using Social Sweeps promotions, best practices, the rules and regulations associated with doing these types of promotions legitimately, some of the apps that are available and, of course, review some case studies.

I am just one of 17 sessions that are on the agenda for the two days. It opens up with a welcome from the title sponsor who is Emily Spensieri, President and Founder of F.E.M. (Female Engineered Marketing). Emily runs a marketing agency with offices in Toronto and Buffalo, NY, that has produced some great work for brands and organizations that specifically want to connect with women.

I do see a few men speakers on the agenda, however the majority are women. Some of the companies represented include other marketing firms and media companies such as Rogers Media, Digital, comScore, Inc., MediaCom, ShesConnected Multimedia Corp., Microsoft Advertising Canada, One of a Kind Marketing, VIVmag, Blammo Worldwide, Matchstick Inc., Fuel Industries, Wedding Republic, Saatchi & Saatchi, NATIONAL Public Relations Inc., Vervegirl, Precision Marketing Group Inc., and Solomag.com.

Digital-Divas-LogoWhy and who should attend this conference? Anyone involved in marketing that wants to learn how to leverage digital media more effectively to reach the ultimate power consumer, women. That's all marketers I believe. As we all know, women are key drivers behind many of the most relevant trends online today. We spend more time online, are more engaged on social networking sites and spend more money online than men. Our interests span across a wide range of topics that are relevant to our everyday lives.

Therefore, the conference is focused on today's "Digital Divas" who shop more, communicate more and are less likely to ever unplug from our digital gadgets. The goal of the conference is to help brands understand how to address women's life stage, not just biological age.

I invite you to check out the agenda by downloading the PDF brochure you can find here . You still have a couple a days to save $200 off the registration fee with an early bird discount that expires this Friday, May 13. Open Dialogue has a long history of hosting marketing events since 2004 such as the Annual Marketing to Digital Moms, Marketing to Women, Social Media Marketing and others. I'm looking forward to attending my first conference with this organization and also in expanding my network by meeting some of my Canadian neighbors.

Oh, I haven't mentioned yet that the Marketing to Digital Divas conference is being held at the luxurious Old Mill Inn & Spa which is just outside of downtown Toronto. It's a boutique inn with a fine dining restaurant that's been in business for 95 years. I'm planning to stay a couple of extra days and have a chance to visit Toronto with my husband who's joining me there. It's been almost 10 years since we visited the city together, so we are really looking forward to this.

If anyone is planning on attending please let me know. I would love the opportunity to speak with you and say hello. Of course I'll be doing some reviews of the conference and highlighting some of the session on future blog posts. You can also follow the new conference Twitter page here that was recently created. Please help spread the word to anyone that you think may be interested in attending this conference. Thanks!
