Smartphones: I Don't Leave Home Without It

Do you go anywhere without your Smartphone? I know I don’t. Right now though my phone is doing some wonky things and I keep thinking I need to get to the Sprint store and see what is going on. It got me thinking though, if something happens to my phone I’d be lost – literally and figuratively. The reason for that is because of the amount of apps that are on my phone and how often I use them. I rarely leave the house without turning on the GPS and when I’m hanging out killing time, I need my word games.
- Evernote: because of my sieve-like memory I use Evernote to take notes, store pictures and track client interactions. I can also sync the information with my computer and voila it’s all at my fingertips (and a better keyboard)
- Map app: My phone came with its own built in map program which helps me to not get too lost when I’m out traveling. The turn-by-turn directions are much the same as my former TomTom device, but the phone app keeps up with ever-changing routes and announces road closures and detours.
- 4Square: I love this because if I check in at a location that uses 4Square I have a chance to earn free gifts from the location. Free coffee anyone?
- Scan Biz Cards: I attend a lot of networking events and don’t like to come home and have to enter in all the contact information into the computer. With Scan Biz Cards I don’t have to; this app scans and also helps track follow ups and calendar reminders.
- Dragon software: If you have any of the iPhone or iPad platforms, the Dragon Dictation software types what you speak. Good for meeting notes (for yourself to record the notes as it must be trained to your voice) or for dictating notes for interviews and blog posts.
- ColorNote: This app is a great place to store log ins, passwords and any other number of items you want to keep track of. The app also offers a password protection option to keep your information secure.
- Track my Mileage: If, like me, you travel a lot for business and need to keep track of the number of miles driven because your accountant will be asking for it, this app is perfect. No longer do I have keep track of the scraps of paper I used for miles driven to meet clients.
There are many, many more apps vying for space on my Smartphone (which could be the reason for its freezing issues) but these are my favorite. Although to be perfectly honest, I think it is my Words With Friends app that gets the most workout! What are your favorite apps?
