I thought I'd continue writing this week about another recipe contest after last week's post that include one on wine and cheese. This contest is specifically for bartenders! The Margaritaville Cargo Master Mixologist Recipe Contest is only open to Margaritaville Restaurant Bartenders currently employed by Margaritaville.
Starting on June 15th they were invited to get creative and upload a unique recipe that uses the Margaritaville® Fiji™ Frozen Concoction® Maker to put their "bartending bravado" on display. They were asked to submit the recipe in one of the following recipe categories: Adventurous Ritas, Beyond Margaritas, Mocktails or Guilt-Free Drinks via an entry form on the Margaritaville Cargo Facebook page. I can already hear Jimmy Buffet singing in my head as I'm writing this.
Each recipe had to include a name, the chosen recipe category, its ingredients and a description of how it is prepared. The bartenders also needed to upload a photo of their drink along with an optional video. A panel of judges reviewed all the submitted recipes and they choose three finalists from each recipe category based on the following judging criteria: 35% originality and uniqueness, 35% degree of difficulty and 30% meets recipe category themes. These recipes are now on display in the Contest Gallery in the Facebook app and the public is invited to vote for their favorite.
All
the finalists will each receive a pair of Margaritaville Sunglasses.
The bartenders that earn the most votes in each category will each
receive a Margaritaville Bahamas Frozen Concoction Maker (worth about
$200) and gain the coveted title "Master Margaritaville Mixologist".
The one finalist who earns the highest number of votes from all the
recipe categories will be determined the Master Margaritaville
Mixologist and receive a $1,000 cash prize. The voting continues till
this Monday, July 15, so check out your favorite. Right now "Half Past
12" by Amy Williams is in the lead. Here's how it's made:
Blend passion tequila, cointreau and mango puree in the blender. In the glass add some grenadine and then pour the mix from the blender into the glass and then float with 151 rum. Garnish with lime wedge and 2 raspberries. ENJOY!
All the drinks look interesting. Something to keep us busy trying out the rest of the summer!
