We're now approaching week 8 of the NFL season, just about half way through, and many of us fans have experienced some heartbreaking loses along with a few nail-biting wins. I'm a glutton for punishment being a Buffalo Bills fan. We started off the season with a lot of excitement having a new coach, Doug Marrone who came from Syracuse University, and a new rookie quarterback, E. J. Manuel who was the Bills first round pick in the draft. It's been a bit of a soap-opera so far.

Back during training camp there was all this talk of who was going to win the battle as the starting quarterback, E.J. or Kevin Kolb. Well Kolb slipped on a mat in training camp and hurt his knee, then suffered a concussion in the preseason game against the Washington Redskins and has been out for the season on the injured reserved list. E.J. started and was looking pretty good, but also got a knee injury and has been out for the last couple of weeks and maybe four more. So the staff brought in Thad Lewis to fill the spot who had only played in one other NFL game as a quarterback. He's looking pretty good right now. So we'll see. But, as we keep getting reminded, the Bills haven't made the playoffs in 10 years!

Anyhow, I wanted to share with you this promotion that Vizio has brought back for the second year. The Vizio “TDs for TVs” Sweepstakes is a successful charitable marketing initiative that features the Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson. Starting last week with Game 7, every touchdown Johnson scores for the remainder of the season will be rewarded with a 65-inch flat-screen TV given to a fan and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America in the city in which he made the play.

Last year 12 televisions were given to the Boys and Girls Club of America in three cities including four in Buffalo. Johnson said in a statement that the Boys and Girls Clubs of America is “a place that taught me to strive for success off the field”.

This year fans can enter the sweepstakes through the TDs for TVs tab on Vizio’s Facebook page were they can enter once a day during the promotion period. One winner will be selected in a random drawing for every touchdown scored by Steve Johnson during a football game who will receive a VIZIO 65” Smart TV with Theater 3D.  So if Stevie doesn't score a touchdown in a game, there will be no random drawing and no winner as was the case in last week's game in Miami. Stevie has been struggling with some injuries and despite that he had some good plays last week, one that ended in a field goal, but unfortunately no touchdowns.

This Sunday the Bills will be in New Orleans playing against the Saints. Let's go Bills and Stevie! We want to see some TV's being awarded! Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn't add this.... GO RED SOX!! The World Series starts tonight at Fenway!
